Article ImageControl the spread of BYDV by aphids in winter cereals

Accurate timing of an aphicide is important to achieve control of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) in autumn sown cereals. Crops drilled before mid September are at higher risk and should receive two aphicides. Spray these crops in mid-October or upon finding aphids in the crop with Cypersect XL or Alphasect and again in early November. For crops drilled between mid-September to mid-October spray at the end of October to early November if aphids are found in the crop or upon professional advice.
